SELECTMEN’S MEETING
NOVEMBER 20, 2018
MINUTES
ATTENDING: Gary Haley, Juli Vanderhoop, Jim Newman, Simon Bollin, Jay Smalley, Margaret Downey, Mike Hebert, Randhi Belain, Chip Vanderhoop, Jeffrey Madison (Town Administrator).
The meeting was called to order at 4:36 p.m.
The Selectmen approved minutes of October 2, 2018 with Jim Newman abstaining because he was not in attendance at the meeting. Gary and Juli voted yes. Minutes of the November 2, 2018 were approved. Juli abstained as she was not in attendance at the meeting. Jim and Gary voted yes.
The Selectmen approved an invitation of the Green Communities to their meeting on December 11, 2018.
Maggie Downey from Cape Light Compact made a presentation to the Board that included rate increases for their customers. She also explained the incentive programs offered by CLC as users take advantage of power saving usage.
The Selectmen postponed the classification meeting with the Board of Assessors until their meeting on December 11.
Selectmen requested the Town Administrator to schedule a meeting with the Town’s “financial team” to begin planning a FY 2020 Budget.
The Selectmen voted to authorize Gary Haley to sign the Sanding Contract as presented by David Giles for the upcoming winter season. Vote was unanimous.
Selectmen discussed the disposal of the vehicle formerly used by the Town Animal Control Officer. Simon Bollin agreed to use it as a practice vehicle for the Emergency Response Team of the Fire Department and dispose of the vehicle following its use for training purposes.
There was discussion of the notice from the Dukes County Sheriff grant award and meeting on December 5.
Chairman Haley opened a bid to paint trim on the Aquinnah Cultural Center submitted by Louis Colby, Jr. Juli made a motion to accept the bid price of Eighteen Thousand Eighty Dollars ($18,080) provided Mr. Colby agreed to abide by the job specifications including proof of workman’s comp insurance. Jim Newman seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.
The Selectmen reviewed the lpropose warrant articles for a Town Meeting on December 13, 2018. They approved all articles as presented to them unanimously.
The Selectmen heard a presentation from Chip Vanderhoop, Shellfish Constable, who recommended that the commercial scallop season open at sunrise on Monday, November 26, 2018 with a daily limit of one struck bushel per permit per day. The vote was unanimous in favor of opening the season as recommended.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:44 p.m.
