SELECTMEN’S MEETING
MARCH 20, 2018
MINUTES
Attending: Jim Newman (Chairman), Juli Vanderhoop, Gary Haley, Paul Manning, Randhi Belain, Simon Bolin, Marsha Shufrin, Jeffrey Madison (Administrator)
Jim Newman called the meeting to order at 5: 30 p.m.
First on the agenda was review of minutes from February 13, 2018 meeting. Juli moved and Gary seconded that the minutes be approved as submitted. So voted unanimously.
Jim called for a discussion of correspondence. The Board reviewed a letter from Linda Coombs requesting permission to use Aquinnah Circle for an Artisans Festival on July 21, 2018. Randhi Belain (Police Chief) said his department was doing the annual Public Safety Day on that same day. Juli moved and Gary seconded a motion to allow the request. The Board voted unanimously to approve the request.
There was discussion of an email received by Sibel Suman from Maria McFarland concerning a conversation she had with Jim Coppola about a lot (Map 5, Parcel 142) that, due to actions by the Assistant Assessor resulted in 2 chains of title. The Board took no action, but decided to defer action until they received input from the Board of Assessors.
There was a brief discussion of the Assistant Assessor’s request for permission to seek legal counsel on Jim Decoulos’ request for an abatement. The Selectmen by acclamation voted not to allow the request.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:47 p.m.
Juli Vanderhoop left the meeting. There was a discussion with a couple of assessors from other towns following the meeting. The discussion involved a letter sent by Adam Wilson as the Town Representative from the Best Practices Grant.
